Personal Vows – Writing your own
Here are some personal vows written by our very own couples! Writing your own vows is never easy – it’s not supposed to be. Let us help you! Few things, sometimes a couple will work together – sometimes apart. If you work separately, you may want to have someone you trust reach each one to make sure they are a match. Many times, one of our Wonderful Officiants at Spouses for Life have helped the couple match what they are going to say. They don’t have to be equal length, that’s not likely to happen, but they should be a matched set to one another.
Some basic structure – it’s nice to start with something from the begging – share the moment when you knew they were the one. Think about, and articulate what you are offering, and
As I stand here before you, I see not only my best friend, buy my partner for life and my soul mate.
Looking back on the years we’ve known each other, I can’t help but to think of all the great memories we’ve already built, from working with you to becoming best friends to becoming lovers.
I truly believe fate brought us closer and closer, to this moment. You make me the luckiest (man/woman) to have you in my life. You have been there for me through thick and thin and have been just so carrying, that I know I can never meet someone like you.
I promise you from this day forward to respect you, to always and provide you the best that I can.
To communicate and be patient with you as you have always been with me.
To be supportive and be by your side with open arms through all your ups and downs.
I promise to show you with my love and affection every single moment that we are together and tell you how much I love and adore every little thing about you.
(Spouses Name), you mean the world to me. I can’t imagine where I would be without you. No matter what trials we encounter together or how much time has passed, I know that our love will never fade.
On this day, I promise and pledge myself to you in front of all our family and friends. To unconditionally love you with all my heart for the rest of our lives.
One thing we strongly recommend, that if you want to write your own personal vows, we found it easiest to make sure they are finished a month before your wedding date. You may still add something, but there will be so many things going on as you close in on your date it’s nice not to be stressing about your vows.
And feel free to have your friends help you! Your best man, maid of honor, and other friends and family may have wonderful ideas for your personal vows. We have know that on more than one occasion the best man or maid of honor did most of the writing (but let’s keep that our little secret, OK?)
